Last weekend, (08/21/21) in Santa Cruz, Ca, we had the bmx ride out of all ride outs! Thousands of people came here from far and wide to experience bike life the Santa Cruz way! Unfortunately, the ride out was not permitted by the city and there was a huge backlash from the event. Tom Laughron, the event coordinator, was hit hard by the community and law enforcement. I know Tom personally and decided to reach out and see if he could shed some light on the story from the bikers point of view. We had a great conversation. I urge the community to take a step back and listen to what he has to say and how he would like to move forward with the event in the future.
